The blog Satanic Mojo offers the following provenance for the image: “In the late 1970s in the UK sci-fi comic 2000ad mutant bounty hunter ‘Strontium Dog’ visited Hell in a 12 part adventure that ended in a showdown with Satan (art by Carlos Ezquerra).” Also, a luridly colored version of the same image.
