Brain in a box
Original post here. Sourced on tumblr to lostpanels via jelloagogo. I have been unable to determine the provenance for this image, but it is a comics panel depicted a dissected brain (eyes attached) floating in fluid in a transparent box. The panel bears the caption “Then, Akers knows. He tries to scream, but there is no sound. Yet he knows. He wanted life…and he has it. That’s the most horrible part. He still…lives.”. There is an additional caption “The End” and an apparent footer page number “5” in the panel.
Principles of inheritance
Original post here. Sourced on tumblr to diabolical-malevolence via jelloagogo. Original tumblr text:
“The brain of my father, the heart of my mother.”
This is originally work by Marija Tiurina. As she describes the work on her own site:
An illustration I did for INDIE magazine’s anniversary issue. The theme was “The Ten Commandments” and the one I’ve picked was #4 – “Honour thy father and thy mother”. I took the subject of inheritance literally, which added… uhm.. some gore to the meaning. Did a couple of sketches, but the mag editors (godbless) decided that they are okay with going “as dark as possible”, which totally worked for me.
I used watercolour and ink for the actual piece, which was then scanned and slightly touched digitally before exporting for print.
That was good fun.
